Description
Fasting glucose measures the concentration of glucose in your blood after an overnight fast (usually 8–12 hours). It’s one of the simplest and most widely used markers for assessing baseline blood sugar regulation and early insulin resistance.
Why it matters
Persistently elevated fasting glucose can be an early signal that the body is struggling to keep glucose in range—often due to insulin resistance. Over time, this pattern increases the risk of prediabetes, type 2 diabetes, and cardiovascular disease.
